Goods in transit insurance insures cargo while they are being transported by road, within the borders of South Africa. So, you’re covered if this cargo is lost or damaged as a result of some unexpected event, like a fire or a collision that causes everything to spill out onto the road. TLDR: Insurance option at 1% of value with R500 minimum, subject to the following:

• R200,000 load limit & R400,000 location limit
• Basic excess 10% of claim (minimum R5000)
• Hijack, Armed Robbery or Theft of Entire Load Excess 20% of Claim (minimum R7500)
• Covers the bicycle but excludes additional items such as kit, helmet, shoes etc
• Denting, scratching & chipping is excluded as goods need to be packed correctly to withstand the voyage and loading & offloading.
