Getting to grips with the LASER logistics booking platform
What is important when it comes to sending boxed bicycles? A good system helps. A lot. But the best system with sub-par service won’t help at all. Then we just appoint more people, or bots, or agents, to do the work. Fear not, no bots are automated or employed in the delivery of your boxed bicycle. This is a service by humans for humans at the moment. Every order is sanity checked to see that everything is above board. Which is why we don’t have comebacks. At least none that I know of.
Here is how to book your boxed bicycle transport on the LASER logistics platform. Quick and easy. Even though my preferred options are still (A) Shiplogic and (B) Couriermate just in terms of ease of use. Something like ParcelPerfect is also quick and easy. but not on mobile. Alas, we digress, below is hoe to book on the LASER logistics platform.
Sender details
- Sender name. Which is auto saved together with the complete address and details for use next time. And there will be a next time. At least we believe so. Because once you experience the bicycle couriers service then you are likely to stay a customer. And tell your friends. According to our ratings.
- Suburb name or zip code dropdown. You can type the zip code. And then select the accurate suburb from a drop-down menu. Or you can type the area. And then do the same. It is not as sleek as Shiplogic which is google maps integrated. But it also forces you to double check the info. And eliminates sending bicycles without verifying where to. And we like that.
- Contact person Can differ from the company name. If not an individual. So if you are collecting from premises with a large staff component you can indicate who to ask for. Which makes collections quicker. Especially from larger bicycle shops like the Cyclelab group.
- Tel nr without spaces. Shiplogic is brilliant here as it automatically formats out all the spaces and omits the leading zero for local numbers. But this is not Shiplogic. So you have to ensure you take out brackets and spaces and especially the last space after the number. In order to validate the tel nr field.
Recipient details
- Same as above –
- Suburb or zip from dropdown
- Tel nr without spaces
- Plus email. We use our own email address for both the sender and the recipient. Ie hello@bicyclecouriers.co.za. As this emilinates different instructions to drives etc etc. We manage the process. As you would expect. When sending your boxed bicycle through bicycle couriers. If you haven’t done so before, may we suggest trying it for yourself? We would love to hear your feedback afterwards. And will duly ask for it.

- Don’t click add parcel unless >1. By default the boxed bike dims of 160*30*80 and 20kgs which we use is already entered and loaded for a new order. No need to select anything else. Unless there is more than one bicycle to collect. Or if you need to tick and remove to update the SUBMIT buttom like described below.
Optional Extra info
- Shipper reference = ordernr. So that we can double check and easily verify which delivery was on which carrier when we recon for month end. Many bicycles quickly means a lot of admin and small tweaks like this make it easy work to compare.
- *Add parcel then delete parcel to SUBMIT. The latter is only needed from time to time. If there is the odd stall. Iso doing a page refresh and re-entering all the info. So the foolproof way is to load an extra bike and delete it from the booking again. Before you submit. In order to enable the submit.
