No matter where you’re sending your bicycle, understanding the destination can help you plan ahead. This guide answers common questions about transporting bicycles between South Africa’s cities and towns, as well as neighbouring countries, remote locations and popular cycling destinations.
Can you transport bikes anywhere in South Africa?
Yes, we do! We send bicycles across the country from (A) to (B) anywhere in SA. The vast majority of bicycles are being sent on the main routes from CPT to JHB and PTA and down to DBN and PE. But the garden route and George, Knysna and Plett is also very popular over holidays. And Mosselbaai for IRONMAN® events. Do you transport to Namibia?
Yes, we do. Bicycle transport to Namibia. For example, the Nedbank Desert Dash in Namibia in November-December is popular request. Sending bikes to Walvisbaai can be directly to your hotel. And back again from Windhoek after you have conquered the desert (what about Mannie Heymans’ Bike Mecca bike shop in Windhoek). Do us a #bicycouriers favour and ensure you book well in advance. Do you transport to Botswana?
Yes. Ad hoc boxed bicycle transport to Botswana on #bicyclecouriers. Including Bulawayo or Harare and beyond, on request. Another example of this would be the unboxed race bike transport we did for the Nedbank Tour de Tuli back in the days with MMB. When we took unboxed bikes cross-border for the race and finally back down to JHB and CPT when all was said and done. Now to where in Botswana can we send your boxed bicycle?
Do you transport to Zimbabwe?
Yes. Plus, another option would be to deliver to the last town on the SA side of the Beitbridge border where the N1 from South Africa becomes the A4 and A6 in Zimbabwe. So, we can send it to Musina, and the recipient can also pop across the border to come and fetch it there if you want to avoid paperwork and fees and duties and costs. Just another way that #bicyclecouriers keeps thinking outside of the box.
Do you transport to Mozambique?
Yes. Avoid the potholes and use #bicyclecouriers to send your bicycle to Mozambique. Another option would be to deliver to the very last town before you cross the border. Ie Komatiepoort for the Lebombo border post on the N4. Because it worked out much more cost effective for the sender. And the recipient popped over the border to SA to come and fetch the bike on this side. Which also means the cross-border paperwork and onus fell on them not us. To where in Mozambique must we send your bicycle?
Do you transport to Lesotho?
Yes. We do send bicycle to Lesotho with #bicyclecouriers. Great if you want to go up Sani pass. Or if you want to feel like a Basotho from Lesotho. I cycled up there on more than one occasion. Each time before the Sani2c, when we took bikes up there for the 3-day MTB stage race from Glencairn farm outside of Himeville and Underberg on the SA side. Can you deliver to lodges?
Yes indeed. Bicycle transport via #bicyclecourier to lodges for your next race or holiday. Recent examples include the Champagne sports resort in the Drakensberge for a December holiday trip for the whole family sending their bicycles there (and Ladismith being the closes depot in this instance). Do you transport to remote towns?
