ATTAKWAS extreme on 17 January 2026
The Momentum medical scheme ATTAKWAS EXTREME presented by Biogen. The hell of the South. A 1-day UCI MTB race with more info on atta.co.za/. South Africa’s toughest extreme one-day mountain bike race! South Africans and their appetite for tough endurance events projected the Attakwas into legendary and cult-like status over the years. This is the race to do if you want to test mind, body and machine with a total elevation of 2900m over 121km. or you can do it in both directions, more or less, back to the start. Atta is at the beginning of the year and first on the Dryland events calendar 2026.
TANKWA TREK from 5-8 February 2026
The Tankwa Trek is one I have never done before and A ride like no other! As South Africa’s premier four-day stage race with UCI status, it attracts the world’s best mountain bike athletes each year. With breathtaking, technical trails through the Bokkeveld and winding routes in the Witzenburg area, this race features some of the most unique scenery South Africa has to offer. Come and test yourself on this 4-day pre-EPIC UCI MTB stage race to check out your partner. The Garden Route Giro promises to be that and more. The Waterberg Traverse from 1-3 May 2026

I see it as if the Waterberg Traverse is the Storms River Traverse but up North. Enjoy 3 days of MTB bliss in the spectacular bushveld of the Waterberg at Summerplace Game Reserve in Limpopo. Experience breathtaking views and the chance to encounter wildlife along the way. And yes we have sent many bicycle to Summerplace game reserve before. The month of May is for MTB races! The 36ONE MTB challenge from 22-24 May 2026
Ah it is about time that we do this one again. Bram has been raving about it all year long. Again. The 36ONE MTB race challenge is a 360km MTB race with 36hrs in which to complete the course. Or you can do the half. And more info on the36one.co.za/. South Africa’s ultimate single-stage mountain bike race! You have a maximum of 36.1 hours to circumnavigate cycling’s heartland, 361 degrees. Storms River Traverse from 31 July – 2 August 2026
The STORMS RIVER TRAVERSE is a 3-day MTB stage race event by Dryland with more info on stormsrivertraverse.co.za/. it happens during the end of July slash start of august next year and promises to be yet another spectacular event. With tracks hugging the rugged coastline and views only seen on postcards, this ride is designed for the intermediate cyclist looking for an adventure without having to spend hours training every day. 3 days of fun on the Dryland events calendar 2026.
Cape PIONEER Trek from 22-26 September 2026
The Momentum medical scheme CAPE PIONEER TREK presented by Biogen is not only a mouthful to pronounce but also a UCI 5-day stage race MTB event with more info on capepioneer.co.za/. The “Race With Soul” plunges its participants into a whirlwind adventure, taking riders from the pulsating singletrack of Saasveld into the heart of the Klein Karoo. Prince George 100 miler on 17 October 2026

It is a monumental race from the dark side of the Swartberg Mountain Range at the Northern slopes in the Great Karoo through the Klein Karoo region over the Montagu Pass with dense forest plantations and a finish at the coast in George.
