The dentist is a thousand meters of fun
The Dentist is the perfect halfway mark when you cycle from Stellenbosch to the Jonkershoek gate and back. And you get to do it in both directions. The whole thing is just 1km long. But it is fun and fast and flowing. And donβt think there is no opportunity to fall β I had a sideswipe just this morning into the wet wooden bridge. And the RidePal app also has their own writeup and clean visual on ridepal.app/trails/za/western-cape/stellenbosch/the-dentist
Where is the dentist MTB trail?
Just before the Jonkershoek gate. With all the MTO trails around. They say The Dentist is a popular, moderately rated blue-grade trail located in the Stellenbosch mountain biking network near Jonkershoek. And we have already featured this in our Best MTB trails around Stellenbosch. Why do I like it so much? Because I can take mini-me on it. Because it is fun. And because it takes you away from the computer screens for just long enough, but not too long.
Why is it called the dentist?
Because it was created by a dentist. Or because may need to visit one after crossing all the rocks and roots. The man who responsible for so many fun routes around Stellenbosch, Corrie Muller. Check out his handiwork mentioned around Coetzenburg by Red Bull. As featured as trail blazers in the Stellenbosch Visio right here.Β And there are more of them β check out the three Muller brothers on treadmtb.co.za/three-muller-brothers-set-to-tackle-attakwas.

The dentist route on RWGPS says from the Stellenbosch side it is 1km with only 24 meters of elevation and a max grade of just under 9pct which must be the ramp right at the end as you ride out towards Jonkershoek gate. Which doubles up as the drop in when you come down back towards Stellenbosch. Oh, what fun. And this is why we do it every day. Find it right here on RWGPS at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/57156466
