How to send a bicycle to/from the Natal Midlands

But first, where is the Midlands of KZN? The Natal Midlands in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal Province comprise the towns of Greytown, Howick, Mooi River, Nottingham Road as well as Pietermaritzburg. The Natal Midlands are also home to the scenic Midmar Nature Reserve (I fondly remember all our outings to swim the Midmar Mile) and the Albert Falls Nature Reserve.

Booking your bicycle transport is as easy as 1-2-3:

Book online, to/form a shop or door to door. If you need help boxing, drop off your bicycle at a local bike shop for them to box and we collect from them when ready. and presto, it goes to your chosen delivery address. The easiest way to send your bicycle all across South Africa!

Do you need to box a bicycle for shipment from HOWICK in KZN?

Good news. There are three shops close by who may be able to assist. We say may be able because even though they are all very capable of boxing bicycles, it might very well be that they do not have any cardboard bike boxes in stock to work with. So best to always call in advance and check first. We have, just today, and found that unfortunately at the time of writing none of them have got any bicycle boxes in stock. Which is why we look just down the road at Hilton 😊

Howick Cycle & Gear

I spoke to Joshua, and they didn’t have boxes in stock at the time of writing but check back soon. Oh, and the company website looks like it had a little bug so we rather shared their facebook profile on the link below. Howick cycle and gear is Howick’s original bike shop and they focus on the service and repair of all makes of bicycles. Limited stock available.

Ebikes in paradise

Yip, this is an operational bicycle shop that exclusively deals in ebikes and some more cost-effective ones at that. After speaking to the owner, it looks like they haven’t thought of boxing bicycles before but where there is a will there is a way. Keep in mind for next time, or grab a box from them if available.  Karkloof certainly is paradise.

When Howick above is out of stock for cardboard boxes in which to pack your bicycles, then just down the road are many more options in Hilton. Southbound and further down the road we end up in PMB, with even more options. So pick and choose the bike shop you like most as we collect from and deliver to each and every one of them. We’ve sent bicycles for boxing and collection from Callan many times before and will continue to do so in future. He doesn’t always have cardboard bicycles boxes in stock but is quick to order in and assist where necessary. We must just always check and remember to print and stick the right waybill on the right bicycle box 🙂
