Send your MTB to+from the ABSA Cape Epic!

Welcome to the Tour de France of Mountain Biking

YES, #bicyclecouriers brought down bicycles from all over South Africa to the 20th edition of the ABSA Cape Epic MTB race this year. And oh boy was it one to remember. The route had probably the most relative amount of climbing and singletrack since its inception. Another proudly South African export!

When did the Cape EPIC start?

In 2004, when Kevin Vermaak staged the first Epic from Knysna to Spier. The route was just shy of 800kms with 17000 meters of climbing. Back then it was already an international event, with over 20 countries represented, compared to over 50 this year. Who won the 1st EPIC?  Karl Platt and Mannie Heymans won the very first EPIC – no wonder he says it has been a life-changing story.

ABSA red jersey riders everywhere 🙂

It is also not called the ABSA Cape Epic for nothing – during this week at the 2024 ABSA Cape Epic they announced that ABSA have signed up as title sponsor for the next 3 years. Expect to see even more red jerseys on the trails! Oh, and we don’t use any of their logo’s or trademarks on this site, as we know from experience that the owners and the IRONMAN® group are very protective of their brand. With reason.

Get your bicycle safely back home!

Did your mechanic forget to load your bikes on the truck back up to JHB? Or were you simply too tired after a week of racing to be bothered with the simple admin of sending back your bicycle? Fear not, as we collect, box, and send your EPIC bicycle back from the finish line or closest local bike shop to wherever you want it – home, or for a service!
