100+ Bike Races & Cycling Events in Southern Africa for 2021

Doing a racing calender during in the middle of what seems to be our peak coronavirus period in SA seems a bit superfluous and instead I have opted to create a list of top events. Covid-19 has upset the apple cart last year and we are eagerly waiting to see how 2021 unfolds, with regards to lockdown and allowed races. Oh, and you can click on the event images to visit their respective websites. Enjoy.

With so many events listed beow, we had to roughly group them in order to make sense of it all. Take your pick between Road, Gravel, Mountain Bike, IRONMAN®, Triathlon, Ultra, Xterra or Cross-border Events in the form of Races, Stages, Classics, Adventures and Tours. Wow, that’s a mouthful. Do you want your event to be featured here? Contact us, we’d be happy to add you.

Which of these are on your to-do list?

People to see, races to do. We are really fortunate to have such an abundance of events in and around Southern Africa.

And here is a brand new race for 2022: Dorperland MTB Challenge is cycle race that will take place in and around Kenhardt in the Northern Cape. The inaugural event is scheduled for 02 July 2022.

The main race will be a one day 80 km’s challenge on a gravel road and “plaas padtjie”. Part of the route will go through a quiver tree forest with some steep inclines and down hills on a rocky route. The arid climate contribution of the region will really add toughness to the race.

We also will have a 15 km’s family ride and a 2 km’s kids fun ride. For more info about Dorperland MTB Challenge please visit our website http://www.dorperlandmtbchallenge.co.za/

PS thanks for sharing, Richard 🙂 #ChallengeTheUnknown
