Who makes the most bicycles in the world?

Made in Taiwan. And Europe. Here are 5 things you might not have known about Giant bicycles:

  • Giant is the world’s largest bicycle manufacturer. The company produces more bicycles each year than any other company, with factories in Taiwan, China, and the Netherlands.
  • Giant was founded in 1972 by King Liu, a Taiwanese businessman. The company began as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and produced bicycles for other brands before creating their own brand.
  • Giant is known for its innovation in bicycle design and manufacturing. The company was the first to introduce aluminum frames, carbon fiber frames, and compact geometry frames to the cycling industry.
  • Giant sponsors several professional cycling teams, including Team Jumbo-Visma and Team CCC-Liv in road cycling, and Team Giant-Alpecin and Team Sunweb in mountain biking.
  • Giant is committed to sustainability and has implemented several initiatives to reduce their environmental impact. These include using renewable energy sources, reducing waste and water usage in production, and designing bikes that are more energy-efficient to manufacture and transport.

With over 60 stores nationwide, we must segment the lot to keep this page easy to navigate. I’ve split up everything into just 5 groups, starting with the Concept stores and then into the 4 main regions, namely Gauteng, Western Cape, KZN/coastal and inland/offsore. And the regions are ranked by number of shops. Here we go.

These are the biggest and baddest Giant stores in the country – the flagships. If you want to find the latest bikes, gear and tech, then look no further. With 22 stores below, plus the 1 abovementioned Giant concept store in JHB, Gauteng narrowly surpasses the Western Cape to be the province with the most Giant stores in the country. You can find them all below. Enjoy. Which is my favourite? Well, I’ve frequented Linden cycles myself when staying up in JHB and Jarrod certainly knows the drill when it comes to sending bicycles with #bicyclecouriers so they get me vote of confidence 😊
