Coming down from JHB to CPT
Here is the plan. April 2026. 20 riders. Who need to fly down from JHB to GRJ and we send down their bicycles. To arrive at their chosen accommodation venue in George before they do. Then they assemble the road bikes. Each rider meticulously doing his own, as requested. After which they depart on Sunday and follow the road to CPT. Arriving on by bicycle on Thursday. After having spent the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday en route from the Garden Route to Sea Point. How is that for a great custom bike tour?
And for the return trip from CPT to JHB
I hope to meet them there. And assist with boxing the bicycles for the return trip to JHB if need be. As they depart on Friday from CPT international airport. And we send their bicycles up on the weekend truck from CPT to JHB depot. To deliver everything at their chosen destination on the Monday or Tuesday. Given that everything went smooth on the trip over the weekend. So this custom bike tour, like all good things, can come to an end. But not before we have also taken care of the following:
What about insurance?
And we even include a certain base R20k insurance for the GIT trip. Per bicycle, not per waybill. Which sets us apart from many other bicycle transport companies. Are there even that many other bicycle transport companies. You be the judge. And if you need anything over and above the default R20k then you are welcome to ring up your personal ST short term insurance broker. And just tell them that you need all risk with GIT or just the goods in transit cover. For the trip from JHB to GRJ and from CPT back to JHB. For custom bike tours or any other individual bicycle trip, be sure to ask about our insurance options. Zero by default.
Easy does it with simple logistics and group discounts!
What I do like about this trip is that we can collect all the bicycles at a single location. Each time. And seeing as the riders are doing it for a charity we at #bicyclecouriers will also come to the party. Usually, the rate is R749 per bike for door-to-door transport. But because this is (A) a group and (B) they are doing it for a good cause we will do the following. Bicycle couriers will give a 20% discount on the bicycle transport rates. And seeing as they want to use their own boxes and the collection point for the return trip is not the same one as the delivery point for the trip down. We will also transport their own flat packed bicycle boxes for free from the start in GRJ to the finish CPT. Lekker custom bike tour!
What about some help off-the-bicycle?
Anything else? We offered to help with a backup crew. As John with his rigged out brand-new FORD Ranger is ready to go. Any day of the week. And bring along his long lense camera and drone for the most visually stunning reminders of the bicycle tour. Same as what we do for Tourdeboland and Bolandcycletour via cyclotourism.co.za/. And we gave through the details of ZM trailers in Stellenbosch if they want to grab a trailer for luggage. And suggested bringing down a THULE Bikerack to put on one of their support vehicles just in case. So 1 vehicle for luggage and another as a backup.
That just about covers everything
