We ran the numbers. Today is Wednesday. And I checked the dims of the ebikes we sent this week. To get a few accurate examples. And here are some more points of reference. Dimensions in LBH and cms. Ie length*breadth*height. The max ACSA airline allowed bike box size according to their rules are 140*30*80. However, I have often flown with bigger. Just make sure the mass stays under 23kgs. But that won’t be an issue in this example. Because you won’t be flying with your Ebike. Our target bikebox size (average of large numbers) come to just under 160*30*80cms. RESULT: Let’s run the numbers
The first example is 1.9x our target dimensions or volumetric weight. The second example is 1.2x our target dims. And the third example is one spot on 100% our target dims and the other is less than ie only 80% of our target dims. Which goes to show – an Ebike doesn’t always have to go in a massive bikebox. 160*30*80cms is perfectly adequate and still allows you to keep the rear wheel on and just remove the front wheel and the pedals and turn the handlebar.
