Why this post? Because it is a work in progress. A guideline of what follows over the next few months. Where we feature each of these bike shops individually. To tell you a bit more about them. And what they offer. And the people involved. Why we like referring individuals to them for boxing bicycles. And getting it ready for transport. On #bicyclecouriers. Which is a perfect solution if you want to send your bicycle but do not have the time or patience or expertise to box a bicycle. Rather then just hand it in at one of these fine shops. And they can pack it professionally. And we can collect from them when ready. Easy!
Or packing it yourself, then we can grab your bicycle from home. Door to door!
Cape Town bicycle couriers shops
In CPT we have JOC, CWC, Cyclelab N1 City, Revolution cycles and Cycling Friends. But there is also Freewheel Cycology, Olympic cycles, Crown cycles, Woodstock cycleworks, The Gear Change, Chilled Squirrel, Edge cycles, Specialized West Coast (Cycles Direct), Specialized Tygerberg, D’ville cyclery, Geco cycles and now Raceworx Biketeque.
Paarl bicycle couriers shops
In Paarl we have Specialized Paarl, Kroff cycles, Bicycle garage, Cycle4life and the new Cyclelab Paarl. And around the corner in Wellingtong we have Adventure cycles and Velosport next to Cole eatery. Yip, there are many bicycle shops to pick and choose from below the Taalmonument.
Stellenbosch bicycle couriers shops
In Stellenbosch we have Mason’s bike inn, Flandria cycles, Specialized Stellenbosch and the trail centre, the TREK store that used to be BMT and is now called Hellsend bike compound, very close to me. And our very own admin office from where we run #bicyclecouriers.
Somerset West bicycle couriers shops
In Somerset West we have the Giant man Williams bike shop, close to Specialized Somerset West, then Pedalworx at the Somerset Mall, and the Cannondale outfit RA cycles close to MCD, plus Banhoek bikes which is conveniently close to our attorneys. There is also a shop halfway between Stellenbosch and Somerset West, The Hanger bike co.
George and garden route bicycle shops
In George we have Coimbra cycle house in York street which is the Specialized store, then the Giant outfir Ride Life, Willie Marx cycles also in York street, and RA Rande cycles and run towards the mall. Garden route bliss. Sedgefield and Knysna is mentioned below.
Port Elizabeth friendly city shops
In PE, the friendly city, we have Ewan and team at the beautiful new location of Coimbra cycles in Walmer, then the Specialized store Action cycles, the blue Giant outfit Cyclopro, and Wayne Pheiffer cycles and coffee which is a very convenient location close to the beached and Boardwalk in Summerstrand as you come down to the ocean.
East London bicycle couriers shops
In East London we have the following. Buffalo city bicycle shops as follows. The Bike Yard with its prominent black and white logo and friendly staff under Adrian, then SBI cycle service centre, and the pretty in pink Cycle HQ on the Old Transkei road. Talking about the Transkei is another story. Because however beautiful, most couriers avoid that part of the N2 to DBN. Rather opt to go around JHB. For safety.
Durban bicycle couriers shops
In Durban we have the following. Cycle Specialist the TREK store in Glenashley, Cyclelab Cornubia close to the airport. Leighs cycle centre under Leigh and Susan in Umhlanga. The giant store in DBN is Cyclesphere. And Concept cycles powered by Burry Stander, in Ballito. Plus the new Cyclelab Ballito store opposite them. Many areas including Pinetown, Hilton below, Umhlanga up north.
Pietermaritzburg bicycle shops
In PMB we have the Specialized store GM, Greg Minnaar cycles. Then Hattons cycles with different locations, including Cascades. Absolute Motion cycles in Hilton Business park. And Callan from CBT Callan’s bike Tech. To whom we also often refer people for boxing and collection of bicycles.
Johannesburg has so many locations
In JHB we always start with Jarrod at Linden cycles. Or Franklin and Riana at Arch cycles. Deane and Oswald at Cyclelab Fourways. Or Shelby at Eagle Canyon cycles. But there is also Cyclelab Boksburg. Mellow Velo cycles in Broadacres. William at Dunkeld cycles. And Solomons cycles in Woodmead. Ridgeway cycles closer to the airport. Complete cyclist with branches in Bryanston and Bedfordview. And Sprocket and Jack. Or Northcliff cycles. Plus so many more. Just ask.
Pretoria bicycle couriers shops
Jakarandastad. In Pretoria we start with Johann at TREK Lynnwood. But there is also TEK Wolwespruit. Or Happy at Cyclelab Lynnwood. And Bruce Reyneke cycles in Lynnwood. Or Bicycology nearby. Or Barend at Singletrack cycles in Shere. Which is conveniently close to Silver Lakes. And Hot Spot cycles in the east. And so on and so forth.
Nelspruit bicycle couriers shops
In Nelspruit we have 3 options. First and foremost is Bicycle Boys @ Halls. Then the Specialized store Bells cycling, where Gawie always helps us so quickly and efficiently. And finishing off with Valencia cycles or V-bike. And these are all your options in Nelspruit. Close to Witrivier. For boxed bicycle transfers to and from anywhere else in SA.
Polokwane bicycle couriers shops
In Polokwane there is a single store. Cycleway Polokwane. The local TREK store. Which is the best bet for servicing and boxing a bike in Polokwane. In Bloemfontein first that comes to mind is Chris Roos at Enduroplanet. Enduroplanet also has a Woodlands branch. Keeping intact with the Munga theme is Cycle World close to the waterfront. And Specialized Bloemfontein under Specialized bicycles Africa. Plus ABC cycles in Kimberley. Which is Alpha Beta Cycles. The specialized store.
Hermanus bicycle couriers shops
Can you believe there are so many bike shops in Hermanus? Toinette at GET cycling. Jannie at Village cycles in Sandbaai. Which is near Hermanuspietersfontein. On the bottom of the Hemel and Aarde wine valley road. Then the Giant store Hermanus cycles. And Gobike the ebike rentals in town. There you have it. Ready for the holidays. From wines to whales.
Worcester bicycle couriers shops
In Worcester there are more bicycle shops than you’d think. Start with Francois who you see prominently at every EPIC backup with Manic cycles, then Detour bike shop, Cycle scene in Worcester and Kings cycles. There was also an online Gear shop but they have since closed down.
Plettenbergbaai bicycle shop(!)
In Plett there can be only one. We make exclusive use of Kevin’s aptly named The Bike Shop in Plett. That Piesang valley road address is one that appears on many waybills during the holidays and people migrate down to Plett for Decembers. And you have to bring along a bicycle!
Knysna bicycle couriers shops
In Knysna we have the following. Cyco cycles as you enter town from GRJ side. Tyron at Bespoked bike shop on Lesure isle. Knysna cycle works. And Bespoked bike shop in Knysna. Plus, close by Sedgefield Cycleworx which also changed hands fairly recently.
Other bicycle couriers shops
Way up in the Northen coastal corner of the country. In Richarsbaai we have Terence at Cyclemanics. Surf’s up, but you can also cycle! In Jeffriesbaai we have J-Bay cycle centre. Student bicycle transport in the NW province. In Potch we have the TREK store Cyclo DNA, then Le Tour cycles and Park cycles. On the west coast. In Langebaan we have the trusty Langebaan Cycleworx. Mosselbaai magic. In Mosselbaai we use Brenden at KK cycles and ebikes, from Koffiekartel.
