How does it work?
Easy! When you finish an EPIC stage, they will be there waiting for you & your bike in the designated ‘Tech Zone’ area. After doing the necessary servicing and testing they will return your bicycle in tip-top condition to the bike park, ready for the next stage. And when they say for the full duration, they really mean it, as their service starts from the time you arrive at the Cullinan Hotel, even before the race. They will help you assemble your boxed bike. And complete a wash and lube service after group rides, at the hotel. Plus, a full service after each stage, including the Prologue. Well done guys, and many extras available – for you and your bike. Think about nutrition, transfers, bike boxes and more.

That means you don’t have to hop over to tech support. Aka ‘Tweede kamp’. And it extends to more than servicing as they also have a full retail outlet. Better yet, there are no inflated rates as you so often see, as they continue with spares at standard shop rates. And if you booked a full EPIC bike service package and you purchase anything from the Manic shop then there is no additional charge to have it fitted. Lovely.
What did I learn from Francois at the EPIC?
✅ Replace, don’t take chances. Like when you ponder over plugging or replacing that tire. Just get a new one and use the existing one as a spare later on. Your EPIC entry was expensive, while the spare part, by comparison isn’t.
✅ Prevention is better than cure. Arrive with a properly prepared and fully serviced bike (or book one from Manic). Including wash & lube, sealant, gear set, brakes set, headset service, BB service, hubs service, pivots service & suspension lube service.
✅ Look after your bike and it will look after you. This seems obvious, but easier said than done, especially when you have already given all that you’ve got in the saddle. Which is why the EPIC bike service package makes so much sense.
