Costs for sending boxed bicycles with courier companies in SA
So far, we’ve done comparisons with TCG (The Courier Guy) and MCSA (My Courier SA) and this is our third installment where we talk about what it costs to send a boxed bicycle with different courier companies in South Africa. So you can compare and make your own decision. We’ve been sending with DSV for a few years now. And the results are great. But it is costly when you go direct. This is for a 160*30*80cms and 30kg typical boxed bicycle and results are taken from the Rush portal correct at the time of writing.

And what about insurance?
Optional extra. With DSV road, As with most other courier companies, this can be bought at an additional amount. Which is usually around 2-3% of the value insured for. And there are minimum deductibles and maximum amounts insurable. Most courier companies say you can go up to R40-50k for GIT cover. Which is short for goods in transit cover. PS, if you want to register a profile and open and account and send a parcel with DSV road then you can do so on clientzone. Unfortunately, clientzone is also one of the things that prohibit us from sending large volumes with DSV road, as the booking process takes way too many clicks before we can send a shipment. Couriermate is a lot quicker.
