Why do we send the PDF waybill on the day of transport?

We send the PDF waybill for your boxed bicycle collection on the day of transport because…

So much can happen from the time that you booked your boxed bicycle collection. Until the time that it actually does. Plans change. Flights change. Life happens. People buy THULE bike racks and take their own bikes and never notify us to cancel. Or they take the bike to a different shop. Or ask us to make last-minute changes to the collection address.

OLD way of doing things: immediate PDF waybill

So where we have at first always created the waybill immediately, even if it was for boxed bicycle transport way down in the future. We do not do so anymore. Because it takes more time and effort to change an existing booking than to just create a new one. First we have to cancel the existing waybill. Which can have cost implications. Then we must make sure it is not in use anymore – ie any existing copies already printed. And then we must issue the new one. And you can think of the ripple effect when third parties are involved to collect, box, bike shops, friends handing over bikes, etc, etc.

NEW way of doing things: PDF waybill on the day of, or just before collection

Not brand new. We have been doing it for months. And it works like a charm. Less change. Less admin. Efficient, just like Paddington. We like to keep it simple. Which is why we don’t send the PDF waybill immediately. To allow for all changes to happen as far as possible and save us and you some time and costs and admin. So when you book your boxed bicycle transport with #bicyclecouriers we will most likely only send you your PDF waybill for the collection on the day of the collection. Or maybe the previous day late in the afternoon. Or even over a weekend.

*And is there a cost implication for changes? This is in store in our next update.

It just makes sense

Now where can we send your boxed bicycle today?

And your PDF waybill will arrive on the day, or just before.
