Warrior on wheels foundation at the Amashova this year
Did you know that Warrior On Wheels Foundation won gold at the African Responsible Tourism Awards in the Making Travel Inclusive category? 🌟🏆💙 What an absolute honour. Check out their WOW Facebook page for more details and see the many smiles of happy young warriors all around. And now it is time for the Amashova buggies.
Cape Town, Johannesburg, and now Durban!
I’ve been involved with the Warriors on wheels foundation ever since Richard Baufeldt asked me whether I would be interested to pull a buggy and help a child achieve something that would otherwise be difficult for them. And immediate YES and many cycle tours later. We’ve done the CTCT Cape Town Cycle Tour in the mother city countless times. And last year added the 947 Ride JHB in Gauteng as well. To own the streets of JHB in the The Virgin Active Ride Joburg (the world’s second-largest timed cycle race, after the Cape Argus Cycle Race).
But this year we are off to DBN for the Amashova, the older road cycling classic in South Africa. Cycling the 100 odd kms from PMB over the hills and down to the sea to finish in DBN. And yes, the buggies are going with. We are already sending one up to JHB today so that the team can start training. Thanks to Marilyn and my team at DCB Logistics for the reduced rate for helping the little ones, we appreciate it! Amashova buggies and beyond.
Do you want to get involved?
Why not. Spread the love. Come and pull a buggy. On a regular bicycle or an e-bike. Or join us as a support rider to help clear the road and push from behind or just be on the lookout for the little ones. And the team is always looking to expand the fleet so without ever getting on a bicycle you can still help by spreading the word or making a financial contribution. Every bit helps. And we can put more buggies on the road. Which means more smiles for the little ones. We all appreciate it!
Bicycle transport to Durban
Oh, and if you are flying to Durban for the Amashova we can send your bicycle! Either directly to your accommodation in DBN or PMB, or to and from the King Shaka International airport or bicycle shops nearby. Let us know and we’ll make it happen. Amashova buggies or regular bicycles. See you there!
Where are the bicycle couriers? Right here on the Amashova website.
