For the last few years, I have been renting a MTB from the Adventureshop for the annual Cape Town Cycle Tour to pull a buggy for the Warriors on Wheels Foundation. This year they were kind enough to sponsor us with a brand-new bike for a whole week. So that we can send it up to JHB for the 947 Ride JHB and introduce the concept there via the Forest Town School.
It was a roaring success — and today I’ll return the bike and catch up with this family run operation by owner Raino & sister Veronica back in Stellenbosch.
About the bike
An XL TREK hardtail MTB with 1x gearing, massive cassette, dropper post, wide handlebars and clean black lines to complete the picture. It performed flawlessly while navigating the streets of JHB and pulling a total weight of around 180kgs (gulp!). Well done indeed.
Did you know?
- The Adventureshop has a fleet of about 25x normal MTB’s and another 30x e-bikes for rental and touring. Impressive.
- It is situated in the Landbousaal, next to the Eersterivier and directly opposite De Haas Luxury Living, with whom they have a longstanding relationship. Dankie Dewald!
