Where better than to start with MMB to move my bicycle?
The company we started back in 2016, before it since changed hands before it got to current ownership in the capable hands of coach Nick Porteus. I can’t wait to continue working with him as his dedication and never-say-die attitude from tri-sports carry over to how he transports bicycles.
Initially #movemybicycle was from the Cape to the rest of the country, but it has evolved and now also has a very strong focus on races from Gauteng to the rest of South Africa. And here we go, consider all of these collection points for your bicycle below. The majority overlap with store we frequently service from #bicyclecouriers, but there are also a few new ones. And see if you can spot the trend…
PS there are over 3 dozen stores below so we had to split them up into logical groups. Ie move my bicycle from JHB & PTA, the West rand, Gauteng, the North (upcountry & inland), and then move my bicycle up from the Cape and the South and the Coast. There you have it. a mouthful of options from where the collect your bicycle for races in and around South Africa. Move my bicycle from JHB & PTA
- Hotspot cycles Atterbury PTA – hotspot cycles in PTA has also helped us with many boxed bicycle collections and home deliveries as of late and is getting very popular for bicycle transport over December holidays. And again, cycles united.
- Singletrack cycles PTA – Barend has the perfectly located bicycle shop for anyone in and around Silver Lakes estate in Pretoria East and is always ready and welcome to receive a bicycle for transport. In the Shere lifestyle centre.
- Cycle tech Midrand – Kayalami, Barbeque Downs, Midrand. Henri & Eloise will be impressed with this convenient address for Cycle tech bicycle shop in-between PTA and JHB. Let’s go!
- Mellow velo Fourways JHB – Mellow velo is also part of the cycles united stable and is a convenient alternative to Cyclelab in Fourways. Situated in the Broadacres Shopping Centre, 7, Cedar Rd, Broadacres, 2021.
- Dagley’s bikes Honeydew GP – Dagley’s Bicycle Shop in Honeydew, Roodepoort is also under the cycles united umbrella, and I am starting to see a theme develop here. Which is exactly why these umbrellas exist. Well done team.
- Arch cycles Melrose arch JHB – Arch cycles is one where we collect very often and I love dealing with Riana and Franklin at this premium TREK bicycle store in Melrose Arch JHB. They always have a very fast turnaround time.
- Cranx+shox cycleworx Linden – the bright blue and orange Cranx ‘n Shox Cycle Worx is one I wasn’t even aware of until now, as we usually collect from Jarrod at Linden cycles in that area. Thanks for broadening my horizon.
Move my bicycle from the West Rand GP
- Cycle guru Alberton – the Cycle Guru is your bicycle store and bicycle repair service in Brackenhurst, Alberton. And yes, you have guessed it, they are also part of cycles united. Spot on.
- Bicycle line Boksburg – Bicycle Line is located in the Summerfields Shopping Centre in Boksburg and is a convenient alternative to Cyclelab Boksburg which we also often use as a pickup point for bicycle transport across SA. TREK!
- Cadence world Krugersdorp – Cadence World bicycle shop in Kenmare, Krugersdorp and they also use the very convenient and familiar Hubtiger app for bicycle service centre bookings, updates and invoicing. Nice one.
- Finish line cycles Kemptonpark – looking for a reliable bike shop that sells the world’s biggest bicycle brand (Giant) right here in Glen Marais Kempton Park? Or want to fly somewhere and drop off your bicycle conveniently close to the ORT airport? Then give Finish Line Cycles in Kempton Park a go.
And Move my bicycle from the NORTH & inland
- Cycleway Polokwane – by far the ‘highest’ shop on this list, Cycleway PLK is the local TREK dealer situated at the c/o School Rds, Shop 5, The Farmyard Trading Post Cnr, Munnik Ave, Bendor, Polokwane, 0882.
- Bicycle Boys at Halls NLP – bicycle Boyz is one of the 3 bike shops from where we collect in Nelspruit, and I can understand why this is such a popular options. Good, friendly and fast service is all that one can ask for, and exactly what you get at Bicycle Boys at Halls. The TREK store in Mbombela.
- UN(LTD) cycling Klerksdorp – bike shop by Dusty Day in Klerksdorp. Did you know that the LTD in UNLTD cycling stands for Liefie, Tyler, Dusty? Well know you do. And you can take your bicycle here for services and collections.
- ABC Aplha Beta cycles KBY – get to know your ABC when collecting from Alpha Beta Cycles bicycle shop in Kimberley and another TREK dealership, do you see the pattern of TREK, Specialized and cycles united on here?
- Specialized BFN – this branch is connected to the Stellenbosch, Somerset West and Tygervallei Specialized outlets and a default choice to collect from when in Bloemfontein. Fastlane cycles Specialized BFN. When are we cycling up there for another MUNGA?
UP from the South/Cape: CPT is where it all started for move my bicycle many years ago back in 2016 and these shops down here still play an integral part of the company operations. We visit them with fond memories: these 8x bicycle shops from where MMB collects in CPT.
Move my bicycle from the CAPE
- CWC Chris Willemse Tygervallei – CWC Chris Willemse cycles is the original online bike shop in South Africa. And both Chris senior and junior’s dedication showed. Now part of the Morecorp group.
- Giant Cape Town – situated opposiate the V&A Waterfront and next to the CTICC, Giant CPT was also a convenient collection point for even back when we started. Just be careful with that trailer through the BOOM! Part of Olympic cycles.
- Geco Cycles Cape Gate – they deliver experience. Geco cycles in Cape Gate is also where I had new brakes fitted onto that Specialized Epic mountain bike. Conveniently close to Cape Gate.
- The Bike Park Uitsig Constantia – is a local bike shop from where we also get an ever-increasing number of boxed bicycle transport requests, even as close as for ebikes from Stanford and Hermanus.
- Specialized Paarl – well done Darren Herbst from Specialized Paarl and HERO trails in Paarl for your inclusion of 2 days on the ABSA Cape EPIC in 2025. Well-deserved and sure to attract many local riders to the shop and course.
- Specialized Stellenbosch – did you know that the 3 stores Specialized Stellenbosch, and Specialized Somerset West, and Specialized Tygerberg (Tygervallei) are now under the same umbrella? Hence the same site as below, together with BFN…
- Specialized Somerset West – having recently moved from the corner store next to THULE on the R44 outside the Somerset Mall, Specialized S/West can now be found at 47 Caledon St, Lionviham.
- Get cycling Hermanus – Get cycling is one of the cycles united stores and this one is conveniently situated at the Hermanus waterfront so that you can enjoy the ride. And yes, there are even boxed bicycle transport options available.
Move my bicycle from the Garden Route
Garden route and coastal. Going all the way from up the garden route from George, Knysna, Plett, then PLZ and via PMB to DBN and up to Umhlanga and eventually Ballito, here are the 8x bicycle shops from where move my bicycle may collect and or deliver your bicycles to for events.

- Coimbra cycle house George – CCH Coimbra cycles in GRJ is the local Specialized dealer on York street. And very easy access for loading bicycles. Even from when I drove the trailer there myself to collect from J-P and his team.
- Ultimate cycling Knysna – Ultimate cycling in main road Knysna is opposite TOYOTA. And easy to spot when travelling through the Garden Route. Let’s cycle up to Karoo2coast and make Zandile Menesses proud!
- Shova cycles PMB – Shova cycles is the bike shop in 66 Victoria Rd, Pietermaritzburg. With the beautifully simple logo that reminds me of Revolution. we might just pop in during the Amashova later this month.
- The bike shop Plett – Kevin at the bike shop in Plett is a household name when you are in that area and very popular for sending bicycles to and from Plett during December holidays.
- Coimbra cycles PE – Coimbra cycles is synonymous with NORCO bicycles, and I love dealing with Ewan, Arno, Quintin and team at Coimbra cycles in Walmer, Port Elizabeth. They also have a new branch at The Village Ctr in St Francis Bay?
- Greg Minnaar in PMB – where better to take your bicycle than to the GOAT! Greg Minnaar’s store in 439 Town Bush Rd, Montrose, Pietermaritzburg, 3201. The local Specialized dealer that gave us in the crowd goosebumps with his WC win on local soil!
- Leighs cycle centre Gateway DBN – Susan at Leighs cycle centre in Umhlanga is always ready to assist. And they are also the local Specialized dealer. Find them at 39 Meridian Drive, Gateway, Umhlanga.
- Concept cyclery Burry Ballito – sticking with the theme, close to coach Nick Porteus’ heart. As a former employee and my own as an ongoing customer. Concept Cyclery powered by Burry Stander is the Specialized dealer in Ballito.
