Bicycle couriers tries to play an important role in creating a safer communities in the Helderberg Basin. How did we do it? By signing up for a monthly contribution towards Jaco and the team that runs the wonderful Pedal Project so effectively. I’ve seen them from the very beginning and what they have accomplished so far is quite something:
- 120 kids
- 35 weeks
- 24 new bikes
- 350 hrs bike riding
- 1050 hrs trail therapy
- 1500 hrs environmental education
PS, what is 300forgood by Pedal Project?
Started by Jaco vd Linde, whom I know through Carinus Lemmer from earlier Tourdeboland days, so a mutual cycling connection. “We are a registered PBO S18A non profit organization based in Somerset West. We work with local schools in under-resourced communities – using cycling as a tool to engage at-risk youth to #TrailTherapy. Which combines the power of mountain biking, mentorship, and mindfulness to deliver community-based mental health support for young people.”
How does 300forgood help move the body and mind?
Support — Use a sport as a vehicle for change for children to support them with coping with mental challenges. Nourish — Create and nourish a new appreciation for sport and nature that can lead to new opportunities. Guidance — Participation and guidance will provide tools to cope with their internal challenges. Connect — Use the opportunity away from the urban landscape to create a meaningful connection with nature.
