It’s no secret that I have been hit with the Specialized stick, for better or for worse. So far, some of the many models include either riding one of these myself on for a family member (start them young). These include — Hotwalk, Hotrock, Riprock, Jynx, Fatbike, Epic, Secteur, Roubaix and a Diverge. But to date nothing with a battery! Seeing that it is all about the bike. Or maybe not. As long as you enjoy it. Here are a few things you might not have known about Specialized:

  • Specialized was one of the first companies to introduce a mountain bike in the 1980s, and their Stumpjumper model is considered a classic in the sport.
  • In the 1990s, Specialized developed a range of women’s-specific bikes called the “Women’s Enduro” series, which were designed to fit women’s bodies better and meet their specific needs.
  • Specialized has a strong commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. They have implemented a number of initiatives, including reducing waste in manufacturing and packaging, using renewable energy sources, and supporting bike advocacy groups.
  • Specialized has its own wind tunnel for testing and developing new products. They also use advanced technologies like 3D printing to create prototypes.
  • Specialized sponsors a number of professional cycling teams, including the men’s Bora-Hansgrohe team and the women’s Boels-Dolmans team. They have also sponsored some of the biggest names in cycling, such as Mark Cavendish and Peter Sagan.
