1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, 10(!) years in the making
Ten years in the making. Speel jy alweer fietsie-fietse? Yes. All the time. Every single day. Because when you do something you love then you are bound to make success out of it. Isn’t that right? And what can be a better featured image than my favourite road sign: the one that points downwards. Funny thing is, even though now it seems easy. The hard part was getting to the top of the hill. Symbolically the 10 years in the making prior to that. Which most people doesn’t see. Late nights and sacrifices. But standing here and shouting or even thinking we’ve made it would be ignorant. There is so much more to see and do. Never stop learning. But now to make more time to be on the bicycle…
10,000 hour rule?
How many working hours are there in 10 years? About 17,000, accounting for leave etc. based on the std 40hrs workweek in SA. But of you work for yourself it can easily be 1.5x that. Or more. Ask Elon. In days of shortened attention spans and instant gratification something that has been coming for ten years in the making seems valuable…
Over ten years for bicycle tours
10+ years on the Tourdeboland that led to Cyclotourism South Africa. With the awesome Bolandcycletour. Which is a 3-week 1500km road bike bucket list trip through the Western Cape Winelands. And now a mystery bicycle tour this coming December towards the Cango Caves and Garden Route. More on that later. Over ten years for bicycle transport
10+ years from the days of MMB Move My Bicycle to the current BC #bicyclecouriers. What started out as race bike transport to the start line of your next bicycle race become something else. Something much bigger. We now have a massive network all across the country. Collecting and delivering ad hoc boxed bicycles every single weekday. What’s next…
More of the same. Just more streamlined. A bit of sales automation. To stop doing the repetitive stuff. And a big of more of all-hands-on-deck. Then the tour part becomes the lightest of work for everyone around. Ten years in the making goes a long way.
