We are here & there & everywhere
Bicycle Transport from here to there. Remember, we are not bike messengers — we send the whole bicycle. When we said we are forming the largest network of bicycle couriers across Southern Africa, we weren’t kidding. If you are looking to ship, send, transport, travel with or deliver your bicycle to or from a main center or remote location in SA, then you’ve come to the right place. I’ve been very fortunate to cycle and attend races in every single province in South Africa, and now you can do the same. Where can we send your bicycle today?
Bicycle Couriers in Gauteng
I have some lovely cycling memories for both road races and MTB events in and around Gauteng. The Magaliesburg Monster should not be taken lightly, but always promises a great weekend away from the hustle-and-bustle. And how can I forget my first 600km Audax and the many, many road miles we’ve accumulated through Devon, Henley-on-Klip and Heidelberg over the years. Last but not least, the mighty Germiston Wheelers.
For the most part, traveling with you bicycle from JHB or PTA to CPT and DBN could be as easy (or cumbersome) as taking your bicycle with you on the airline; after paying the additional charges, off course. Or you could drop off you bicycle at a LBS and allow Bicycle Couriers to do all the heavy lifting 🙂

Bicycle Couriers in KZN
With the Freedom Challenge that starts in the Drakensberg; the IRONMAN 70.3® triathlon that takes place on the Durban beachfront (and cycling through Umhlanga); and the Amashova racing through the Valley of a Thousand Hills to finish at Moses Mabhida stadium — the friendly people from KZN sure are spoilt for choice when it comes to outdoors activities, expecially cycling. And we’ve had some great times on the Sani2c, all the way from the Underberg to Scottburgh.
Here is a lovely scenario: if you are leaving Hilton via PMB to fly from DBN to CPT for the Wines2Whales MTB stage race (and some whale watching in Hermanus), why not drop off your bicycle at Absolute Motion in Hilton for them to box and prep? Well collect you bke and deliver is to your accommodation right here in the Western Cape Winelands, ready and waiting for your arrival in CPT 🙂

Bicycle Couriers in the Western Cape
Welcome to the Republic of the Western Cape. Dare I say it is the heart of cycling in South Africa, especially Stellenbosch? From starting many an Audax on a wine farm; to enjoying the finest mountain biking around in Jonkershoek (and some newly-created trails on the Origin); visiting the southernmost tip of Africa during the Lighthouse-to-Lighthouse MTB race; Route 62 on many a Cape 1000km; taking the Cross Cape Cycle Route to and from the Karoo to coast MTB race; cycling through Swellendam on the Double Century and Tour de Boland —
I’ll have to stop it right here, because the list of amazing cycling experiences in the Western Cape is seemingly endless. OK, just two more: cycling over Bainskloof under a full moon so bright that you can switch off your cycling headlight (and then continuing through Slanghoek on a windstill summer night); and going up the Taalmonument 60 times (or Helshoogte pass 37-odd times), just for fun. You get the picture. Come and cycle in Cape Town — we’re about more than just the Argus (sorry, Cape Town Cycle Tour)… 🙂
From Agulhas to Yzerfontein, here are 100 locations to visit (and we’ll send your bicycle wherever you might need it) — Aan de Doorns, Abbotsdale, L’Agulhas or Agulhas, Albertinia, Amalienstein, Arniston, Ashton, Atlantis, Aurora, Baardskeerdersbos, Barrington, Barrydale, Baviaan(skloof?), Beaufort West, Bellville, Berea, Bergplaas, Bergrivier, Betty’s Bay, Biesiesfontein, Bitterfontein, Bonnievale, Brackenfell, Bredasdorp, Buffelsjagbaai, Caledon, Calitzdorp, Camps Bay, Cape Town, Ceres, Churchaven, Citrusdal, Clanwilliam, Claremont, Clarkson, Clifton, Constantia, Darling, De Doorns, De Kelders, De Rust, Doringbaai, Durbanville, Dysselsdorp, Eendekuil, Elandsbaai, Elim, Elgin, Faure, Firgrove, Fisherhaven, Fish Hoek, Franskraal, Franschhoek, Gansbaai, Genadendal, George, Gordon’s Bay, Gouda, Graafwater, Grabouw, Greyton, Heidelberg, Hermanus, Hopefield, Jamestown, Keurboomstrand, Khayelitsha, Klapmuts, Knysna, Kommetjie, Kraaifontein, Kuils River, Laingsburg, Lambert’s Bay, Matjiesfontein, Melkbosstrand, Milnerton, Mossel Bay, Muizenberg, Noordhoek, Oudtshoorn, Paarl, Piketberg, Plettenberg Bay, Pniel, Prins Albert, Riebeek Kasteel, Robertson, Somerset West, Stellenbosch, Strand, Swartberg, Swellendam, Tulbagh, Uniondale, Western Cape, Wellington, Wilderness, Worcester, Yzerfontein.
Bicycle Couriers in the Eastern Cape
Quick, name the first two cycling (multi-sport) events that come to mind when I say Eastern Cape? Well it’s the and the IRONMAN® 70.3 Buffalo City in EL (that usually kicks off the year early in January) and then the full IRONMAN® Africa Championships in PE (later, around April) off course. And how many bicycles have we not transported there before…
Moving away from triathlons and road races, the Eastern Cape also has some amazing MTB races, including my favourite, the Transbaviaans from Willowmore to J’Bay. I also fondly remember exploring new places from Elliot to Maclear and Matatiele and many others en route to the Sani in KZN, or from CPT via PE & EL to DBN for many magical miles on a bicycle there. Whatever it takes, Bicycle Couriers can deliver your prized posession to the start and from the finish of any of these. Just shout. There are also other options available 🙂
From Aberdeen to Umthatha, why not check out these 95 locations in the Eastern Cape — Aberdeen, Adelaide, Adendorp, Addo, Alderley, Alexandria, Alice, Alicedale, Aliwal North, Bailey, Balfour, Barakke, Barkly East, Baroe, Bathurst, Bedford, Behulpsaam, Bell, Bellevue, Berlin, Bethelsdorp, Bhisho, Bityi, Bluewater Bay, Bonza Bay, Braunschweig, Burgersdorp, Butterworth, Cala, Cambria, Cannon Rocks, Cape St. Francis, Cathcart, Chalumna, Chintsa, Clarkebury, Clifford, Coega, Coffee Bay, Cofimvaba, Coghlan, Colchester, Coleford, Cookhouse, Cradock, Despatch, Döhne, Dordrecht, Dutywa, East London, Elliot, Flagstaff, Fort Beaufort, Gcuwa, Gonubie, Graaff-Reinet, Grahamstown, Hankey, Hofmeyr, Humansdorp, Ibhayi, Indwe, Jansenville, Jeffreys Bay, Kenton-on-Sea, King William’s Town, Kirkwood, Lady Frere, Lady Grey, Maclear, Matatiele, Middelburg, Molteno, Mount Fletcher, Mthatha, Engcobo, Nieu-Bethesda, Oyster Bay, Patensie, Paterson, Port Alfred, Port Elizabeth, Port St. Johns, Queenstown, Somerset East, Steynsburg, St Francis Bay, St Georges Strand, Stutterheim, Swartkops, Tarkastad, Uitenhage, Umthatha, Whittlesea, Zwelitsha.
Bicycle Couriers in Limpopo
Guilty as charged, I haven’t done much cycling in Limpopo. There was a time when we considered doing a RASA Race Around South Africa (5000km around the outskirts of our beautiful country), but eventually decided against it, for various reasons. And I was unable to make the inaugural MMB cross-border trip via Alldays with Eugene to the Tour de Tuli in Botswana (where Jacques Marais took the most amazing photos) — but only because I was busy cycling London-Edinburgh-London at the time, so I wasn’t completely missing out 🙂
From Alldays to Vaalwater, here are 30 locations to the end of RSA where it meets up with Zim at Beitbridge — Alldays, Baltimore, Bandelierkop, Bandur, Beauty, Beitbridge, Bela-Bela, Burgersfort, Carlow, Chuniespoort, Duiwelskloof, Giyani, Gravelotte, Limpopo, Groblersdal, Haenertsburg, Hoedspruit, Lephalale, Louis Trichardt, Marble Hall, Modimolle, Mokopane, Musina, Naboomspruit, Phalaborwa, Polokwane, Shawela, Thabazimbi, Thohoyandou, Vaalwater, Vivo.
Bicycle Couriers in Mpumalanga
Yes please! I fondly remember cycling the Jock Classic 3 stage one day road race starting in Barberton and going over Hilltop to stop for breakfast in Nelspruit, then via Boulders to Kaapmuiden for lunch, and finishing in Barbeton to complete the loop. And the next day was a +-7km hill-climb to a quick breakfast on top of a hill, attended by only around 15 cyclists if memory serves me. But what I do remember is being dead last at the top; but then again first one down by a country mile (thanks, gravity).
More memorable was my first ever “what do you call it when your bicycle goes so fast down a hill that is becomes unstable and starts to wobble?” A speed wobble (or shimmy), off course. It does NOT come highly recommended and is best avoided. That is an euphimism. I nearly shat myself. Either way, this might have been around 2011, a whole decade ago. I really hope the event is still running…
From Amsterdam to Witbank and 56 other locations to have a blast on your bicycle in Limpopo — Acornhoek, Amersfoort, Amsterdam, Badplaas, Balfour, Balmoral, Bankkop, Barberton, Belfast, Berbice, Bethal, Bettiesdam, Bosbokrand, Breyten, Carolina, Charl Cilliers, Chrissiesmeer, Clewer, Coalville, Commondale, Cork, Delmas, Dullstroom, Ermelo, Graskop, Greylingstad, Hazyview, Hectorspruit, Kaapmuiden, Kinross, Komatipoort, Kriel, KwaMhlanga, Loopspruit, Lydenburg, Machadodorp, Malelane, Mbombela, Middelburg, Morgenzon, Ogies, Ohrigstad, Perdekop, Piet Retief, Pilgrim’s Rest, Sabie, Secunda, Standerton, Trichardt, Vaalbank, Volksrust, Wakkerstroom, Waterval Boven, Waterval Onder, White River, Witbank.
Bicycle Couriers in North West
Ek was al by Sun City… indeed, we cycled many a great race there, both road and MTB. In fact, between the Magalies Monster (staying at ATKV Buffelsdrift) and the many MTB races around Hartebeespoort dam, we’ve done a fait bit of cycling in the North West. This was also the ‘start’ of our 1800km Sandton to Stellenbosch bicycle ride in December 2009, when Manus and I took the N14 passing Ventersdorp, Coligny, Biesiesvlei, Sannieshof, Delareyville, Broedersput and Kuruman before moving in to the Northern Cape as detailed below.
From Albertshoek to Zeerust, here are 36 locations to complete the A to Z of towns in the North West province — Albertshoek, Alettasrus, Amalia, Babelegi, Bakerville, Barberspan, Beestekraal, Bethanie, Bewley, Biesiesvlei, Bloemhof, Bray, Brits, Broederstroom, Carlsonia, Christiana, Coligny, Delareyville, Derby, Ganyesa, Ga-Rankuwa, Groot Marico, Hartbeespoort, Klerksdorp, Lichtenburg, Mafikeng, Mmabatho, Orkney, Potchefstroom, Rustenburg, Sannieshof, Schweizer-Reneke, Stilfontein, Vryburg, Wolmaransstad, Zeerust.
Bicycle Couriers in the Free State
If there is one weekend that I sincerely miss, then it is the OFM Classic MTB and road race weekend in Bloemfontein (also a seeding events for the CTCT, way back when it still existed). Be careful of cycling through Clarens in the middle of winter — it’s freezing in the Free State. By contrast an Audax through Deneysville or Villiers during summer can be just as hot. And mind those thunderstorms…
But now, on to bigger things: The Munga MTB (said to be the toughest race on earth) starts in BFN and crosses the middle of South Africa in the heat of summer. Whether you start on a MTB with a Jones bar or a gravel bike with a flared drop bar, Bicycle Couriers will happily transport your bicycle (maybe even all your bikepacking accessories) from anywhere in the country to the start in Bloemfontein. TADA!
From Allandale to Zastron, Bicycle Couriers is at your service from 82 different locations — Aberfeldy, Allandale, Allanridge, Allep, Arlington, Bethlehem, Bethulie, Bloemfontein, Boshof, Bothaville, Botshabelo, Brandfort, Bultfontein, Boompie Alleen, Clarens, Clocolan, Cornelia, Dealesville, Deneysville, Dewetsdorp, Edenburg, Edenville, Excelsior, Fauresmith, Ficksburg, Fouriesburg, Frankfort, Harrismith, Heilbron, Hennenman, Hertzogville, Hobhouse, Hoopstad, Jacobsdal, Jagersfontein, Kestell, Kgotsong, Koffiefontein, Koppies, Kroonstad, Ladybrand, Lindley, Luckhoff, Makeleketla, Marquard, Memel, Odendaalsrus, Oranjeville, Parys, Paul Roux, Petrusburg, Petrus Steyn, Philippolis, Phuthaditjhaba, Reddersburg, Reitz, Rosendal, Rouxville, Sasolburg, Senekal, Smithfield, Springfontein, Steynsrus, Swinburne, Thaba Nchu, Theunissen, Trompsburg, Tweeling, Tweespruit, Van Stadensrus, Ventersburg, Verkeerdevlei, Viljoenskroon, Villiers, Vrede, Vredefort, Warden, Welkom, Wepener, Wesselsbron, Winburg, Zastron.
Bicycle Couriers in the Northern Cape
One of my my first long distance cycling adventures was when we declared (after too much red wine) to cycle from JHB to CPT, via Springbok. At 200kms per day it took us a week. We laughed and learned a lot and it led to much bigger things later on — you’ve got to start somerwhere, right?
The majority of our journey was spent cycling on roads through the Northen Cape (which makes sense, seeing as it is SA’s largest province), passing through Kuruman, Kathu, Upington, Kakamas (and Augrabies Falls), Pofadder and Aggeneys (‘lead and copper and zinc is what we think’) on the N14 to Springbok. Then we turned left onto the N7 via Kamieskroon and Garies before reaching the Western Cape in Nuwerus.
From Aggeneys to Williston, with 42 remote locations the Northen Cape is a sparsely populated gem to explore, with or without your bicycle — Aggeneys, Alexander Bay, Askham, Augrabies, Barkly West, Bekker, Belmont, Bermolli, Biesiespoort, Britstown, Calvinia, Campbell, Carlton, Carnarvon, Carolusberg, Concordia, Colesberg, Colston, Copperton, Danielskuil, De Aar, Delportshoop, Dibeng, Dingleton, Douglas, Fraserburg, Griekwastad, Groblershoop, Hopetown, Jan Kempdorp, Kimberley, Modder River, Orania, Northern Cape, Plooysburg, Prieska, Richmond, Springbok, Strydenburg, Upington, Victoria West, Warrenton, Williston.
Bicycle Couriers in the Southern Cape & Garden Route
Now this a great option for the December Holidays — If you are flying to George and staying in Knysna or Plettenberg Bay for a couple of weeks then your bags are most likely filled to max capacty already. Or you don’t want to have to choose between your golf clubs and your kids’ mountain bikes. With no space or time to struggle with a bicycle on a smaller aircraft, sending your bike directly to your destination can be a blessing in disguise. Keep everyone happy and make it as easy as possible for yourself.
Who knows, maybe know you finally get an opportunity to ride those great new trails at the Garden Route Trail park or cycle along the coast at Harkerville. Either way, and active holiday is all the more reason to enjoy the festivities and have another one, on us. *Note that George is a main center and runs at a reduced rate; and we also have enough volume going through Sedgefield to pass on the savings to our customers. Happy days, happy holidays 🙂

Bicycle Transport by the numbers
Gauteng alone hosts one quarter of the South African population. Add KZN and you are allmost half-way. Throw the Western Cape into the mix and you have almost 60% of our people. And after adding the Eastern Cape and Limpopo we are pretty much accounting for 80% of all South Africans. The remaining 20% is spread out through Mpumalanga, North-West, the Free State and the Northern Cape. So, in terms of numbers and from a business point of view: tackle GP, KZN, WC & EC first. There you go.
