What is the Ride the Cape?
In their own words: Ride The Cape is an all-inclusive luxury riding & culinary experience through the beautiful Elgin Valley. The event is limited to 70 riders ensuring exclusivity. Participants will ride through its well-known apple and pear orchards and experience Elgin’s high-quality, cool climate wines. Participants will explore 3-days of exhilarating riding on some of South Africa’s best kept single track with scenic views of Cape fynbos, orchards, indigenous forests and vineyards. This ride is all about offering guests an exclusive and unique off-the-beaten-path experience.

You can secure a waiting list entry for 14-16 November 2025. Did you know, about Grabouw? Grabouw is a town located in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Grabouw is located some 65 km south-east of Cape Town, over Sir Lowry’s Pass from Somerset West, along the N2 highway.
How to get to Ride the Cape?
Directions from Somerset West: Coming from Somerset West, drive on the N2 past Grabouw, past Peregrine Farmstall and drive until Hickville smokehouse, and take the first turn off just past Hickville smokehouse to your left. Follow this gravel road towards Cherry Glamping.
How to send your bicycle to Ride the Cape?
I hope it is a dry event next time around. because we’ve had some editions where we have to wait for the ground to dry before we dare drive in with the truck to collect bicycles post-ride. Either way, it is a stunning event, and should be on your bucket list. And sending your bicycle to and from the Ride the Cape is quick and easy. We can send your bike to a local bike shop in Somerset West. Or to Trail’s End Bike Hotel in Worcester St, Swannie River, Grabouw. Or directly to the them at cherryglamping.co.za. Whichever you find most convenient. And we can collect your bicycle again after the ride to return back home. Need help, just ask!
